Hi-cut and lo-cut are types of effects that are used in the mixing process.

How it works Edit

Hi-cut Edit

A hi-cut cuts all the frequences higher than the cutoff frequence away. If you set the cutoff frequence to 16 kHz, everything above 16 kHz will be deleted or decreased in volume.

Lo-cut Edit

A lo-cut cuts all the frequences lower than the cutoff frequence away. If you set the cutoff frequence to 50 Hz, everything below 50 Hz will be deleted or decreased in volume. The lo-cut is very useful on the most instruments, because you don't usually want a guitar to have those really low frequences.
